This 3.5 hr virtual workshop aims to support runners/ walkers to avoid injury through pre and post run/walk routines. Running and walking are the most accessible forms of cardio, and yet many people avoid it for fear of injury. Knee, hip and foot injuries are common problems for many runners, but by maintaining a rigorous routine of strengthening and stretching, guided by a somatic awareness, these niggles can become an important signalling system. The workshop will involve an opening class, focusing on understanding the myofascial sling systems that are particularly relevant to runners and walkers. There will then be a break, during which I encourage participants to integrate that increased awareness by heading out for their regular run/ walk.
